WHAT IS OMEGA 3 EPA / DHA

Omega’s are fatty acids belonging to a group of polyunsaturated fats called ‘essential’ fatty acids, and are divided into omega 3 and omega 6 and omega 9.

THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF OMEGA 3 IN FISH OIL ARE:

EPA: (Eicosapentaenoic acid)

EPA concentrates in the Cell Membranes of the Adrenal Glands and enhances their function and in the Myelin Sheaths of the Brain’s Neurons where it attracts the Oxygen necessary for the chemical activities of Neurons.

The Myelin is an insulating layer, or sheath that forms around nerves, including those in the brain and spinal cord. It is made up of protein and fatty acids. This myelin sheath allows electrical impulses to transmit quickly and efficiently along the nerve cells.

DHA: (Docosahexaenoic acid)

DHA is required during the development stages of life (i.e. prior to birth and during early infancy) for the optimal development of the Cerebral Cortex of the Brain and high concentrations of DHA are present in the Cerebral Cortex throughout life.

FOR A MEASURED DOSE OF OMEGA- 3 ESSENTIAL FATTY ACID (EPA/DHA), TAKING OMEGA 3 OIL SUPPLEMENTS IS MORE RELIABLE AND WILL GUARANTEE THE PROPER INTAKE DOSAGE THAT YOUR BODY NEEDS.

WHY SHOULD WE SUPPLEMENT?

The best dietary source of omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA is found in fish. Unfortunately our bodies can’t produce essential fatty acid and our daily dietary intake of fish or Omega 3’s are just not enough. Thus it is important to supplement our diet with good quality Omega 3 fatty acids.
